Garden power tools
There is a good reason why garden power tools exist, Therefore,
it is important that you make sure that everything you do when handling
garden power tools is both effective as well as safe.
Garden power tools account for a large portion of the injuries that
occur in gardens every year. Here are a few things you can do to keep
yourself safe.
• Wear pants – Even though it is usually
pretty warm when you are out doing work in your garden, you should not
give into the temptation to wear shorts while you are working on garden
power tools. Even a small thing going wrong could turn out to be more
major than it should be if you do not adequately protect your legs.
• Use safety glasses – Safety glasses are
always important items to wear when working with garden power tools.
Even if you have 20/20 vision, there is a chance that you may not keep
it if you do not properly protect your eyes like you should. Safety
glasses are able to protect both the front and the corners of your eyes
from things like rocks, pebbles or woodchips that might inadvertently
come flying at your face in the event that the garden power tools spit
them up at you.
• Steel-toed boots – If you are using garden
power tools like lawn mowers, steel-toed boots are a good idea. If you
plan to cut grass on a hillside or other uneven surface, these steel-toed
boots are absolutely recommended. Many accidents occur each year that
could have been prevented had steel-toed boots been worn to protect
the user from the garden power tools.
